The Interschool Student Council Workshop

The Interschool Student Council Workshop

On an annual basis, the HYLS hosts an inter-school council event in both counties Sligo & Leitrim. The meeting offers the opportunity for local schools to meet together to discuss how their individual councils have developed, the successes they have had and the fundraising they have been involved in. This annual event has proven useful to individual School Councils as a way of learning from the experiences of others.

March 2024;

We recently hosted two Inter-School Student Council Forums in our offices in Castle Street, Sligo and at the Base Youth Project, Drumshanbo, County Leitrim.

The Sligo & Leitrim Home Youth Liaison Service deliver a student support service in all secondary schools in counties Sligo & Leitrim. They are responsible for training individual school councils as part of the range of support services it offers to schools, students, and their parents.

The meeting offered the opportunity for members of each school council to come together and discuss how their individual student councils have developed, what positive changes they have made to their school environment and the fundraising events they have been involved in. This annual event has proven useful to individual school councils as a way of learning from the experiences of others.
